Dark Ridge is the location of the first Lord Agony's stronghold. It is located in the Southern Swamps, southwest of Antonia.
History[]
The Great War[]
During the Great War, when Antonia was on the brink of destruction by Agony's Clockwork army, Kingdom Force and the Archineers launched a last-ditch effort to break through Agony's lines. The Archineers Jacob and Kenan infiltrated his fortress at Dark Ridge. Agony was defeated and the war ended.[1] Kenan survived, and although the fortress was too damaged to find any remains, Jacob and Lord Agony were thought to have died.[2]
Current timeline[]
Mute and his army begun to launch an attack on Kingdom Force and the Archineers stationed there, damaging the two Source Wells and overwhelming the Kingdom Force and Archineers within the process.[3]
When Lock arrives, he helps Kingdom Force protect the Source Wells, but eventually, Kingdom Force had to surrender the southeast Well. Mute's armies continue to overwhelm more Kingdom Force members, but all hope is not yet lost when Heathern appears to help Lock. Later on, Heathern tries to fight Mute herself, but ends up fatally injured. Lock destroys Mute though, and rescuing Heathern. Lock then meets with Jacob in his "Lord Agony" form, convincing him to join his side, but Lock eventually leaves with Heathern.
Description[]
Dark Ridge has many hills, trees, some flowers, damaged and broken statues of Clockwork Knights and Clockwork Brutes. There are some Stone turrets and walls nearby each Source Well, as well as a near-destroyed Burning Splash near the northwest Well. There are also some tanks. According to the Geography of Antonia book from the Archineer Hall, Dark Ridge was once lush, but was scarred "black" by Agony's army. There are also three Strange Towers on the edges of the map. Their purpose is unknown, and they are not mentioned in game. There is one obelisk in Dark Ridge. It is stated that there used to be another obelisk, but it was taken to Antonia after the Great War and is now located in the museum.

Trivia[]
- Being a region located in the Southern Swamps, Dark Ridge is the second battlemap to use entirely unique and exclusive tilesets, textures, objects and assets, with the first being Eastar Fields.
- However, these assets for Dark Ridge are reprised in one of the rooms for the Hall of Heroes.
- Dark Ridge is the fourth and final battlemap to include at least one Clockwork unit that is fought in two different variants on different days, with the first being Ironfist Quarry the second being Shellrock Cape, and the third being Tarn Highlands.
- Dark Ridge is, by technicality, the only battlemap in the entire game where all ten Clockwork unit type can be encountered at.
- Elite Soldiers, Elite Archers, Elite Brutes, Silver Shielders, Elite Shielders, Silver Healers, Silver Flyers, Elite Burrowers and Silver Phantoms are fought in battles. Elite Knights appear in cutscenes, and Mute is a Clockwork Magician general.
- Dark Ridge marks;
- The first time Lock fights with Kingdom Force since Well Cluster.
- The first time Lock has to protect a maximum of two Source Wells for a few days, since Well Cluster.
- It also marks the last time Lock has to defend Source Wells in the game.
- The last official appearance of Silver Clockworks, with the final units being the variants of Shielders, Healers, Flyers and Phantoms.
- Dark Ridge has some structural similarities to the previous battlemaps, Shellrock Cape and Marshe Lowlands.
- With Shellrock Cape and Dark Ridge;
- Upgraded versions of Clockwork Shielders and Clockwork Burrowers can be encountered and fought here.
- The enemies fought on Day 62 and Day 63 (Day 46) at Shellrock Cape and Day 84 and Day 85 (Day 60 and Day 61) are identical unit types (Archers, Brutes, Shielders and Flyers), but with Shellrock Cape using Burrowers and Dark *Ridge using Silver Healers.
- Upgraded versions of Clockwork Knights are only found in cutscenes.
- With Marshe Lowlands and Dark Ridge;
- Before battling in these regions, Lock visits Seers at caves (Saltspray Cave and Fenbog Grotto) and are informed with life-changing stories for Lock.
- In the Nintendo DS version, the first two battles (Day 66 and Day 67, and Day 82 and Day 83) include fighting six unit types. The next three battles including fighting five unit types. The sixth and final battle (Day 71 and Day 87) includes an objective other than defending a Source Well (at Marshe Lowlands, Lock must set up explosives, at Dark Ridge, Lock must defeat Mute).
- After the final day, the player is automatically taken to the next map (Tarn Highlands and Desecrated Road).
- Heathern and Kingdom Force allies also appear in both maps, except Lock actually fights alongside them in battle, except in the remastered port.
- With Shellrock Cape and Dark Ridge;
